BNP today alleged that the recent spate of “gunfights” and the huge firearms recovery from Dhaka are linked together and part of a greater “master plan.”

“People believe that the firearms recovery was made under patronisation of the government with an ill will,” alleged BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed.

Referring to the firearms recovery from a water body in Dhaka’s Uttara, Rizvi alleged: “It is the law enforcers and police who use these kinds of weapons.”

He also criticised police commissioner for linking the arms haul with BNP. “It is unexpected that he (police commissioner) spoke like that before any investigation.”

“His statements echo the wordings of Awami League leaders,” Rizvi said at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarter.
