Awami League-backed chairman candidates gained victory in 396 union parishads while Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won 67 in the fifth phase of the union parishad polls.
AL-rebel candidates won 125 seats while BNP-rebel candidates baged 18 and independent candidates claimed victory in 36 union parishads polls.
Meanwhile, the election commission suspended the polling in 34 centres.
Election to 717 UPs was held on Saturday amid various irregularities and sporadic violence that left 11 people dead.
