Local AL leader shot dead by oppositions in Pabna

A local Awami League leader was shot dead allegedly by another ruling party leader centering the upcoming union parishad election at Poyda of Pabna Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, 35, son of Jamshed Biswas, a resident of Poyda Rahimpur village in Sadar upazila.

Rahim was the general secretary of Ward no 3 of Goyeshpur union unit of Awami League.

OC of Pabna Sadar Police Station Mushi Abdul Kuddus said victim’s uncle Amzad Biswas was a member candidate in the upcoming Goyeshpur Union Parishad election.

On the other hand, Shan Mollah, president of ward no 3 unit of AL, was also a member aspirant in the election.

The two groups had been battling for superiority over the election in the area for a long time.

Shan Mollah and his men opened fire on Rahim when he went to Poyda Bazar around 10am, leaving him dead on the spot.
